Slow cooker beef recipes
Ingredients
2-2.4 kg (4-5 lb) corned beef (rolled or silverside)
1 bay leaf
1onion, chopped
fresh orange peel
3-4 whole cloves
1 ½ cups water
Glaze:
3 tablespoons orange juice
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon mustard
Method
Soak meat overnight if salty.
Place all ingredients except beef and glaze into slow cooker, mix well. Add corned beef with fat side up.
Cover and cook on Low setting for 8-12 hours, or High setting 4-5 hours. Remove meat from broth.
Score top of corned beef (in diamond shape), insert additional cloves to decorate, place on heatproof platter.
Prepare glaze by mixing all ingredients together until, and spoon over corned beef.
Bake in moderately hot over (400º F or 200ºC) for 20 – 30 minutes, basting occasionally with glaze.
Can be served hot or cold
